

I am passionate about social justice and community engagement. My volunteer experience both in East Africa and Canada include working with youth, women, and other vulnerable groups through participatory programs such as sport, mentorship, homework clubs, and other
literacy programs. I am in the final year of my studies at the University of Waterloo pursuing majors honor in International Development Degree, a minor degree in Public Policy and Administration, and a diploma in Environmental Assessment. I served as co-President of the Student
Association of International Development (SAID), was a member of Kitchener’s Neighborhood Leadership Program Steering Committee, and is co-chair of the Board of Directors of the Somali Canadian Association of Waterloo Region (SCAWR). I am currently in Arusha, Tanzania volunteering as Youth Engagement Advisor with Uniterra’s local partner JIVITA Foundation as part of my final year placement
